The iRobot Roomba 980 Robot Vacuum Cleaner

Robot vacuums nab pet hair, lint, and dust from floors before it can settle. They can also avoid obstacles such as furniture that is tippy and staircases.

Most robotic vacuums robot require maintenance, like emptying (and occasionally, rinsing) the bin and wiping cameras and sensors. Also, they need to be plugged into the power source. Many come with smartphone applications to schedule, adjust settings and more.

The iRobot Roomba 980 is the most recent in the line of top-of-the-line robot best hardwood vacuum mop cleaners that are an essential part of any modern household. This model is incredibly powerful suction as well as a HEPA filter that'll aid anyone who is concerned about allergies. It also comes with a powerful battery which can be cleaned for up to two hours, and return to its dock automatically once the bin is full.

Smart mapping is a different feature that assists in identifying areas of your home that require attention, and then creates an easy path to get around them. We've seen this technology in action and it does a good job of moving around toys that are placed on the floor, or furniture legs that stick out from under things. It also comes with a sensor that can snap Roomba to its real-world location if it begins to drift away from its initial location.

iRobot has also introduced a new set of rollers underneath the bottom of the Roomba that don't have bristles and therefore tend to be more resistant to tangles than earlier models. They're also a bit taller than older rollers and are able to fit under beds and couches with low sides, and they're designed to let this model move more easily across different floor types.

The Roomba 980 stands out from other high-end models by its new dirt detection feature that makes use of a camera in order to detect embedded dirt. This is a significant improvement over the previous version, which relied on the sensor-driven pseudorandom cover method to bounce around the room and clean it at minimum three times from various angles.

In our tests of its performance, the Roomba 980 did well on carpets and hard flooring. It scored very well on carpets with low pile and on mid-pile. It was successful in picking up pet hair but had a difficult time with the thick and long pet hair that was stuck together.

The Roomba 980 is still one of the best robot vacuum and mop for tile floors performing robots in our list despite the slight limitations. It's also not as expensive as other top-of the-line models. It has many of the features you would expect from a top model, but doesn't come with all the fancy apps or home integration that you'll see in other top models.

The iRobot Roomba can be set up quickly and is ready for use as soon as you are ready to. After removing the yellow bin insert and pull tab from its undercarriage you simply plug it into the wall socket or one of its Home Base docking stations, press the "Clean button" and let it do its work. It will automatically return to the dock when it runs out of battery or becomes full of trash. There are also indicator lights on top that indicate when its bin is empty, or when it needs to recharge, or when it loses Wi-Fi.
